Here is the list of topics that people wish to speak on or discuss which they have indicated either via e-mail, during sign-up or on the session ideas page. Many more have said they want to talk/moderate but haven’t given a topic yet. We’ll add them here as we receive them on the ideas page.
| Name | Talk/Session/Tutorial |
|---|---|
| Walter Higgins | I can give a short talk on CodeRamble - a 1day open-source app for performing code walk-thrus. I’ll use coderamble to talk about coderamble (rather than slides). This talk would be strictly for a developer audience |
| Donncha O Caoimh | How to make your WordPress plugin talk AJAX |
| Andy | I can do a workshop about providing modern communications to remote parts of the world, about our project in Morocco, or about what people here with computer skills could do to get involved. A presentation too maybe. Mainly that people in poor countries could solve a lot of their own problems without depending on aid orgs if they had access to the same tools we do. There is no other difference between them and us. |
| Aileen Cussen | Will contribute to a session on Africa |
| David Hayes | Vision for the social web as I see it |
| John Henry Donovan | I would love to talk about ExpressionEngine |
| Haydn Shaughnessy | I’ll talk about:Is there a new emerging management ethos based around the need for organisations to be more creative and what does this mean for Web 2.0? And possibly about virtuality, showing some virtual art works, Ten Cubed and speculating on where the virtual web will take us. I might also talk about fragmented media. I’ll be doing this in a very informal way - doubt whether there will be slides. |
| Alan O’Rourke | t would be a good opportunity for me to finally get my talk / article together on how/why we developed the UI for Toddle |
| Evert Bopp | I would like to lead/participate in a discussion about “the ideal start-up center/co-working/hot-desking facility” |
| Bartosz Ptaszynski | Tutorial Session on getting started with Django (details coming in a separate post) |
| Roland Steinmetz | I’d be happy to talk about the importance of change in communication on the web. Particular video and web conferencing live and recorded. Video is becoming big and I have a spend a lot of time looking into this and making it easy for business. I wont pitch it to the audience just my honest opinion and experiences over last years and what changes are happening. We are breaking down the existing conventions in this area and show that this is possible and relevant for everybody. |
| Michael Walsh | I would like to see a session about copyright, Intellectual Property rights and digital rights in a digital world. What the challenges and opportunities people see in an environment which is still in the process of accommodating technological advances to established cultural norms? How we got to where we are now, from a legal framework perspective, and how suitable/adaptable this will be going forward? An examination of the ethics of the online community to copyright infringement/sharing of digital content and how to square the circle of localised rights agreements versus a globalized distribution system. What is the perceived culture of sharing of content within online communities versus the actual culture? Do people see lifestyles adapting to spending more time online, therefore making these rights issues worth considering or will people get bored of this “Interweb thingy” eventually and all these issues go away? More than happy to kick it off and stand back. |
| David Behan | I’d be interested in giving a talk on the whole process of selling websites/applications to companies including the initial call, meetings, proposals, contracts, closing the sale, your body language, charging more with confidence, etc. |
| Dave Spathaky | I would back the suggestion above from Andy on remote networking and connecting with the ‘real’ world. I think there is a big issue (even in my local rural Irish community) getting people involved with interaction via the internet. ~ SMS to Web ~ 2d codes ~ mobile phone micro payments ~ micro-blogging ~ informal education ~ crisis intervention. So any angles on the human/internet interface would interest me. (Darn I may even try and run a session. (Did i say that?)) ~ Think global - Plan national - Act local ~ |
| Bernie Goldbach | If people are interested, we can arrange to explain how Tipperary Institute serves requests linked to Enterprise Ireland Innovation Vouchers. |
| Joe Drumgoole | I’ll talk about BES, VCs, Django, Amazon Web Services etc. etc. |
| Conor Lynch | I hope to bring social media marketing experience from a client/ad agency perspective. |
| James Cooley | I’d be interested in taking part in discussion or giving a talk on OpenSource and Irish - “Hacked na Gaeilge”. Other than that I built a message monitoring system in Django and have a working knowledge of Sketchup if somebody needs help there. |
| Sabrina Dent | It Beats the Dole: Careers in New Media. Roundtable discussion and audience Q&A on roles in new media, professional training, and career paths in the industry. Panelists include John Henry Donovan of H+A Group, Fiona Dixon of Digital Crew, and Mairin Murray of Waddell Media. |
| Campbell Scott | Love to talk about my thoughts on how bringing people together on the web can have a greater influence on society |
| Enda Crowley | Would love to present on social media/social networking on my generation and why I think the experts are wrong. |
| John Collison | |
| Tom Doherty | |
| Paul Lee | Tutorial Session on Sketchup |
| Emma Persky | Possibly Social Network Analysis (SNA) |
| Julian Alubaidy | Wine Tasting Session/Lesson |
| Will Knott | How you drink from the fire hose How people are using twitter form a access point of view. A HCI focused look at Twitter, twitter tools and what people are actually doing. |
| Robert Hawkes | Could help give some insight into the challenges I have as IT officer/manager selling new IT ideas and Technology to Directors of a different generation i.e. trying to get them to take a “risk” on technology to grow/adapt the business. Also as my industry struggles to survive in the current climate what options or more importantly best option are there to Re-Train into IT |
| Marcin Czyszczon | I can prepare introduction sesion to Blender 3D, if people interested I can make it more tutorial session than just introduction |
| AJ McKee | “Off loading the strain - Publishing & Consuming API’s the friendly way” |
| Aileen Hannan | Practical talk on self employed profit and tax for sole traders and small ltd companies, how to maximise R&D expenses, and how accounts for the revenue and accounts for investors are presented slightly differently |
| Alexia Golez/Pat Phelan | The Robinson’s Campaign - taking a product from the past that seems to have lost it’s way and giving it a push. |
| Kevin O’Mahony | I am very interested in emerging multi-touch multi-user technologies. What are the potential possibilties where these technologies can enhance callaboration. |
| Ant Galvin | Business Ideas - Worth more when given away |
| James Fairhead | Recovering the dream: technology as tool for social and business innovation improvement |
| Des Traynor and Eoghan McCabe | Myself & Eoghan would like to present a talk on the design of web applications |
