In keeping with our idea of avoiding too much pre-structuring of the day, we are not going to ask people to formally announce session titles etc. However we do want to get some idea of the areas people want to [a] hear about and [b] talk about. If the day works well, those two things will merge. Rest assured that if you want to talk on something, you will get the opportunity.
We have one or two things which will require some setup in advance and we’ll highlight those because they will need your help.
In the meantime, just use the comments section below to suggest ideas and mention topics you want to take part in. I’ll kick it off.

I was referred to this site from the LinkedIN Innovation Ireland website. I would be interested to kick-off a discussion on the problems Entrepreneurism In Ireland based on the following pointers:
1. A lack of capital investment at every level
– financial advisors have steered people to invest in
property in Ireland in the main stream. Prior to the
global meltdown there were some signs of
indigenous corporate investment. How can we
change this cycle?
2. Ireland’s indigenous market is so small it means you
have to adopt an export strategy immediately and
this will limit in some cases the type of start-up.
3. There is a distinct lack of government economic
intelligence and innovation leadership.
– It starts at the top as they say and there are few
signs of encouragement for potential entrepreneurs
that the ship is being sailed on a steady course.
Anglo Irish Bank was handed €4B when I believe it
should have been gracefully left to die – what would
€4B in seed capital have done for Irish start-ups?
4. At every level of Irish society we are have priced
ourselves out of the market.
– Whilst the economic factors have led to some
deflation we are still living beyond our means. But
things could get even worse for business if with
SIPTU posturing for all out industrial action and
further spending cuts due in December’s budget.
5. A failure to invest in grass roots start-ups such as the
Collison brothers.
– Government institutions are still afflicted with the
need to attract multi-nationals. There is a lack of
confidence to create an indigenous Irish industry
such as has been achieved in Finland a country with
similiar demographics to Ireland.
6. The government has considered Nationalising the M50
toll road. Would it not be better to consider
nationalisation of our broadband infrastructure to
support the digital economy?
6. Entrepreneurial spirit is not encouraged in Irish
society. We need to establish Entrepreneurial
Academies throughout Ireland such as the TA Ryan
Academy founded in 2003.
There may be too many points here and each one on its own could probably be the basis for a discussion.

Hi
It’s my first barcamp, so maybe this has already been covered, but I would love to see a talk on how to raise capital for small tech businesses and what options are available.

Hi,
My first barcamp too.
I’m doing my best to offer a session on “Mental Health – the value of madness in the development of the entrepreneurial spirit”.
Only for those in touch with their crazy side.
Yes, the session on the value of madness will happen. I’ve cleared the desks. The only thing is that I haven’t yet a clue how to advertise it to everyone – so that they may know what to steer away from

At NitroSell we have impressively rising KPI numbers – eg 3.619 million end-users, 1.185 million product, 314.2 million page views.
I would like to present our story in the hope of attracting Cork based developers (particularly iPhone), Web Designers, SEO/SEM specialists and EPOS/ERP Vendors to partner with us to mutually exploit these numbers.
